About the Topic
Many from this audience already had the opportunity to attend my TRIZ presentations at ASQ-Calgary during last 8 years (wow - time flies!). During these presentations, I made TRIZ introduction with understanding of problems as results of contradictions, which is mutually exclusive requirements. We looked at functional and inherent contradictions.
TRIZ offers tools to resolve contradictions. We discussed Separation Principles (in time, in space, between the parts and the whole, as well as separations based upon a condition). And even if you attended these presentations, or new audience who is joining us today for the first time, you did not have yet a chance to get familiar with another TRIZ tool - Inventive Principles.
There are 40 Inventive Principles of TRIZ. Of course, during this meeting we will not look in details at each of them. However, we will get familiar with about a half-dozen Inventive Principles useful to address presented cases. Topic of 40 Inventive Principles may be continued in the second part of this year.
And by the way, if you are still pondering about what TRIZ stands for: TRIZ is the Russian acronym of the "Theory of Inventive Problem Solving."
About the Speaker
Maria Stoletova has over 15 years of consulting and teaching experience in the quality area. She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering (equivalent) from Vladimir State University (Russia), Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University (U.S.), in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas (U.S.), and in Metrology from Vladimir State University. She taught courses in operations management, decision analysis, supply chain management, quality improvement, applied engineering statistics, and metrology at U.S., Canadian, and Russian universities. Stoletova worked on research projects in the fields of quality assurance and international quality standards. She completed a number of consulting projects in the quality improvement area working with manufacturing and service companies. She is an ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor and Six Sigma - Green Belt.
