If you have the ambition, talent and drive, consider a fast-moving career with Canada Post. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Value Stream Specialist to contribute to the improvement and efficiency of the value stream according to lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Act as the process improvement functional authority for their assigned value stream(s)
• Effectively use all tools in the lean, six sigma, change management tool boxes to drive continuous improvement in their value streams
• Lead the development and implementation of improvement plans that directly drive better business results by increasing productivity, reducing defect rates, reducing lead time and reducing the cost of operating each value stream
• Collaborate with Directors of Operations, Shift and/or Plant Managers, Superintendents, supervisors, engineers, and employees working in the value stream and use a team-based approach to develop and implement solutions
• Work on all shifts as dictated by the value stream improvement plan; Involving employees in continuous improvement is essential for sustaining change so the VSS
• Consult with the regional Director, Engineering and Continuous Improvement on functional, technical or change issues to become more effective as an operational change leader
• Report on each improvement loop implemented to the Director, E&CI and show measurable evidence that operational performance has been improved

Other information about this job

• Required to work on all shifts as dictated by the value stream improvement
• Priority will be given to employees currently certified or in training for Black Belt or Green Belt
No relocation allowance

Qualifications

Job requirements (Education and Work experience)

• University degree in industrial engineering or equivalent
• Member of a Provincial Order of Engineer association
• 4 + years experience in Continuous Process Improvement or in change management, preferably in a unionized, service or manufacturing environment
• Proactive and take the initiative in completing tasks and attaining objectives
• Communication skills, oral and written
• Strategic thinker and good judgment in choosing improvement loops (future mapping)
