SMART is recruiting a senior quality engineer for its Calgary office. Reporting to the manager, new product introduction, you will work with SMART’s Operations team. You will support new product introductions, driving root cause analysis & corrective action relating to supplier quality issues, support field failure investigations, support the quality management system, and lead process improvement initiatives for a wide variety of SMART products. The goal is to provide SMART’s customers with the best possible quality experience.
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the following:• Supporting multiple product portfolios through the product lifecycle; new product introduction, sustaining, field support, and end of life, including defining, documenting and deploying quality plans and inspection plans
• Defining, documenting, and deploying product quality plans, inspection plans and metrics during new product introduction
• Monitoring supplier and product performance to ensure products and processes meet SMART requirements
• Coordinating and leading root cause analysis and corrective action with cross-functional teams relating to process and product quality concerns identified within manufacturing
• Maintaining and improving systems for measuring and reporting on product quality performance.
• Supporting SMART’s quality management system and driving overall process improvements across all SMART organizations
• Leading the use of quality tools such as FMEA, QFD and APQP
• Actively participation in SMART’s continuous improvement program by identifying improvements as well as leading continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentoring Quality team members
• Helping develop quality management system and quality tool skills
Qualifications
You have the following qualifications:• University degree or technical diploma in a related field (Electrical, Mechanical, Quality)
• At least 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Professional CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) designation (from ASQ) or willingness to obtain one
• At least 10 years experience working in a quality role supporting manufacturing, new product introduction, and customers
• At least 10 years experience with plastics, metal and electronic components
• Sound knowledge of statistics and demonstrated ability to perform detailed analysis of data
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in ISO 9001 auditing
• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma would be considered an asset
• A valid passport or no impediment to obtaining one
