Quality Control Coordinator

Tarpon is searching for a Quality Control Coordinator to join our Structures team in Calgary, Alberta, for a one-year term. The Quality Control Coordinator ensures service is provided to all clients based on Tarpon’s mission “To Exceed Expectations”. At all times, the Quality Control Coordinator adheres to quality assurance and quality control of all documents and processes to ensure overall client and regulatory satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

• Directs inspection activities of Quality Control Inspectors.
• Coordinates and maintains Tarpon’s Quality Control program and manuals.
• Verifies heat numbers/tracking numbers of steel and attachments for material identification and traceability.
• Reviews dimensional tolerances as per drawings.
• Conducts inspection of individual scope of work in progress and at completion.
• Coordinates, compiles and files all documents from the various projects.
• Verifies completion of Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and related QC documentation.
• Ensures all requirements of the Quality Management System are completed in a timely manner.
• Coordinates document and quality control to ensure quality assurance goals are maintained.
• Assists in determining processes and process improvement.
• Executes the inspection and signoff of projects as per the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
• Supports process mapping procedures.
• Maintains relationships with third party inspectors.
• Coordinates all sub-contractors for Non Destructive Examination (NDE) and post weld heat treatment.
• Controls all welder records and logs.
• Coordinates NCR/CA/PA functions.
• Provides quality control updates at production meetings as required.
• Complies with standards and procedures of Tarpon’s Health and Safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Qualifications

Skills, Abilities and Educational Background

• Practical knowledge of supervising welding/fitting operations required.
• ASQ certification desirable in Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
• Certified Engineer Technologist (CET) equivalent experience an asset.
• Three or more years experience in a quality control field required.
• Possesses conversant knowledge of Canadian Welding Bureau requirements.
• Familiar with CAN/CSA w47.1 and CAN/CSA w59 an asset.
• Familiar with Non Destructive Examination (NDE) test procedures required.
• Advanced knowledge of Quality Control procedures, record keeping and systems required.
• Possesses the ability to interpret engineering specifications.
• Ability to provide accuracy and detail in assimilation of project details and reports.
• Possesses intermediate computer skills, specifically with MS Office.
• Ability to work effectively with team members and yet be independent and self-reliant when completing tasks.
• Demonstrates initiative and is a proactive problem solver.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
• Demonstrates efficient organizational skills and the ability to thrive well in a deadline oriented environment.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks quickly.
• Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
