Inspection Planning and Procedure Specialist – Horizon Oil Sands

expansion will bring the ultimate plant capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.
Job Responsibilities
• The Inspection Planning and Procedure Specialist will be responsible for developing in-serviceinspection procedures for use in the operating business units to support the successful operations
of the Horizon Oil Sands plant.
• The inspection procedures will ensure consistent processes are maintained for investigating
equipment specific deterioration modes.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Develop in-service inspection planning documents for the individual business units to support
shutdown and maintenance activities
• Ensure in-service inspection personnel are provided with detailed inspection procedures to
support the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS) Program
• Liaise with ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association) Authorized Inspector
• Work with CNRL groups to identify opportunities for improvements in equipment integrity and
bottom line performance via in-service inspections
• Supervise inspections of in-service equipment and piping
• Supervise contract in-service inspectors during plant shutdowns
• Support the management and supervision of contract NDE (Non Destructive Evaluation)
personnel
• Assist in the management, maintenance and optimization of the PEIMS Program and pressure
equipment database
• Participate in failure investigation and root cause analyses
• Supervise the review, approval, and inspection of pressure equipment repairs
• Audit or evaluate new and existing vendor facilities
• Provide leadership and expertise in verifying through audit or inspection that the Horizon PEIMS
Program, CNRL Standards, Procedure and Regulatory requirements have been met
Qualifications
• Typically 15+ years of related industry experience with Mechanical/Metallurgical/Materials orWelding Engineering Technology Program qualification and a current Alberta In-Service Pressure
Vessel Inspection OR Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection certification
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o In-service Inspection in the petrochemical, refining or upgrading industry
o National Board or API-510 certification is mandatory, with two of the following: API-570, API-
653, NACE, API936, CWB/AWS and NDT certification
o applicable ASME and API Codes or Standards
