Six Sigma
Event Description
This session will give an overview of the Six Sigma DMAIC process. The process will be explained by walking through a six sigma project and some of the key learning. For example, having spent many years leading process improvement initiatives using qualitative methods, the speaker was unconvinced of the value of metrics that Six Sigma emphasizes. The project shared in this presentation helped the speaker understand the cost and benefit of a more quantitative approach to improvement. Attendees are encouraged to share their ideas on this topic too.Speaker(s):
Fiona Koether, SMART Technologies ULC
The presenter, Fiona Koether, has a background in developing IT solutions for business systems as a programmer, business analyst and team leader. More recently she has focused on Quality Management and Process Improvement in high tech companies, particularly working with software development teams. She has passed the ASQ exams for Software Quality Engineer and Quality Manager. She received extensive training in Lean Six Sigma while working at Nortel. She is currently working as a Business Process Analyst at SMART Technologies in Calgary.

We would like people there 5 to 10 minutes before 6pm so we can get everyone seated and start on time.
The ASQ QDG Calgary meets every other Wednesday @ 6:00pm to 7:30pm upstairs in room 208 @ DeVry. There is no charge for the sessions nor is there a requirement to pre-register and yes you will get a meeting receipt counting towards your recertification. There is no disclaimer to sign and everyone is welcome.
Guests can park in the DeVry parking lot after 5:30pm without fear of being towed.
